In Yinchuan, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, China, ZEMSO designed and manufactured a series of pedestrian wayfinding facilities that combine traditional Chinese architectural aesthetics with modern digital information technology.
Located in an urban public space, this project brings a distinctive cultural identity to the streetscape while providing pedestrians with more convenient access to navigation and local information. Through thoughtful product design, customized manufacturing, and digital display integration, ZEMSO delivers a wayfinding solution that balances cultural expression, practical functionality, and urban aesthetics.
One of the defining features of this project is its architectural design, inspired by traditional Chinese structures.
The wayfinding facility features a distinctive tiled roof, curved eaves, decorative elements, and a dark wood-style supporting structure. These traditional design details give the installation a recognizable architectural character, allowing it to blend naturally into the local urban environment.
Rather than introducing a conventional modern signage structure, ZEMSO incorporated cultural design elements into the product's overall appearance, creating a public information facility that reflects the regional character of Yinchuan.
The customized design also considers the coordination between the roof structure, display area, and supporting frame, ensuring a balanced appearance while maintaining practical usability.
Combining traditional exterior design with modern digital technology, the facility integrates dual digital display screens to provide pedestrians with accessible information services.
The display system presents digital maps, location information, and visual content, helping pedestrians better understand their surroundings and identify routes to their destinations.
The dual-screen configuration creates a clear and organized information interface, making it easier for users to access different types of content within one integrated facility.
By incorporating digital displays into a traditional architectural structure, ZEMSO transforms conventional street signage into a more interactive and informative urban wayfinding solution.
From initial concept development to product manufacturing, ZEMSO focuses on combining design aesthetics with functional requirements.
For this Yinchuan project, the product design considers several important aspects:
Customized Structural Design: A traditional architectural appearance is integrated with a practical supporting structure and digital display area.
Digital Display Integration: The dual-screen layout accommodates digital maps and public information presentation.
Coordinated Product Proportions: The roof, frame, and display panels are carefully arranged to achieve visual consistency and functional integration.
Urban Environment Adaptation: The overall design is developed to complement the surrounding streetscape and public space.
Through customized design and manufacturing, ZEMSO provides a distinctive pedestrian wayfinding facility that responds to both the functional needs and cultural characteristics of the project location.
The installation of these pedestrian wayfinding facilities brings more than directional information to the city. It also contributes to the improvement of public space quality and the overall pedestrian experience.
More Convenient Urban Navigation
Digital maps and location information provide pedestrians with visual navigation references, making it easier to identify surrounding streets and destinations.
A Stronger Local Cultural Identity
Traditional architectural elements help the facilities become part of the local urban landscape, connecting modern public infrastructure with regional cultural characteristics.
Improved Public Information Access
Integrated digital displays provide a modern platform for presenting location-related and public information, enhancing the accessibility of urban information services.
A More Attractive Urban Streetscape
The combination of traditional architectural design and contemporary digital technology creates a distinctive public facility that enriches the visual character of the surrounding environment.
The Yinchuan Pedestrian Wayfinding Facilities project demonstrates how thoughtful product design and modern technology can work together to enhance urban public infrastructure.
By integrating traditional Chinese architectural aesthetics with digital wayfinding technology, ZEMSO has created a solution that not only supports pedestrian navigation but also adds cultural character and functional value to the urban environment.
As a smart city furniture solution provider, ZEMSO continues to develop and manufacture customized urban furniture and digital wayfinding products, helping cities create more accessible, attractive, and people-oriented public spaces.
