Recently, the Datong Liangu Smart Bus Shelter renovation and upgrade project, developed by ZEMSO Electronics, a high-tech enterprise and technology-based “Little Giant” company in Jing’an District, Shanghai, has been successfully completed. Equipped with cutting-edge technologies including LCD high-definition displays, digital human holographic interaction, and innovative technology applications, the project has become a practical demonstration of how new urban digital ecosystems can be implemented.
As one of Shanghai’s next-generation smart bus shelters developed in accordance with the Technical Requirements for Intelligent Urban Bus Shelters, the Datong Liangu Smart Bus Shelter adopts the integrated R&D concept of “Space + Technology + Services.”
It creates a multifunctional urban service hub that not only improves public transportation infrastructure and enhances public services but also contributes to a more attractive business environment and a vibrant “Digital Intelligence + Diverse Applications” innovation atmosphere.
The shelter is equipped with self-service vending machines to provide convenient food and beverage supplies for commuters.
Integrated wireless charging functions and USB charging seats meet the needs of mobile office users. The seat dimensions and spacing comply with national standards for public convenience facilities.
A high-definition intelligent surveillance system is connected with a backend management platform, providing all-day security monitoring and operational protection.
The smart shelter features a standard 55-inch LCD high-definition electronic bus stop display. The screen meets national requirements for high brightness visibility and wide-temperature operation, while supporting real-time updates of dynamic bus arrival information.
With holographic display technology, the shelter can present multidimensional digital content at night, transforming from a traditional information display board into an urban digital communication terminal and creating new possibilities for commercial content operations.
As an innovative domestic application, the project integrates a dedicated drone landing platform, reserving interfaces for future low-altitude logistics, emergency material delivery, and urban air mobility connections.
By exploring the integration of ground-based public transportation networks with low-altitude logistics systems, the project opens new possibilities for future urban mobility.
Additionally, outdoor laser projection equipment enables dynamic cultural tourism and technology-themed visual displays at night, enhancing the atmosphere of public spaces.
Powered by ZEMSO’s self-developed smart transportation operation and maintenance platform, the entire shelter is connected to a remote intelligent management system.The platform enables online inspection, fault alerts, and operational data analysis. The complete hardware and software system complies with national intelligent operation and maintenance management standards. With standardized, modular, and scalable features, the solution provides a replicable model for the large-scale deployment of smart bus shelters across Shanghai.
Beyond the Datong Liangu Smart Bus Shelter project, supported by the comprehensive services and full-cycle innovation ecosystem of the Shibei International Science and Innovation Community, ZEMSO Electronics is also collaborating with Linfen Road Subdistrict to develop “AI + Future Community” applications. The project integrates three key dimensions: elderly care services, ecological facilities, and grassroots digital governance.It has introduced multiple intelligent scenarios, including smart bus shelters, intelligent wayfinding systems, smart benches, IoT street lighting, information display screens, and integrated smart management platforms. Through these initiatives, ZEMSO is exploring the “Linfen Model” for community digital transformation, empowering urban renewal and intelligent grassroots governance.
In May this year, the Technical Requirements for Intelligent Urban Bus Shelters, jointly led by Shanghai ZEMSO Electronics and Guangzhou Municipal Engineering Design & Research Institute, with participation from multiple public transportation groups, design institutes, and technology companies, was officially approved and implemented.The standard establishes a comprehensive technical framework covering the entire lifecycle of smart bus shelters, including planning, design, construction, and operation management. It marks a new stage of standardized development for intelligent public transportation facilities in China.

The product was officially installed and piloted in Hong Kong’s Lantau Island in June this year. Meanwhile, the company continues to deepen technical discussions with local organizations including Kowloon Motor Bus and Hong Kong International Airport, steadily advancing localized implementation.Through the Hong Kong International InnoEX cross-border innovation platform, ZEMSO Electronics is actively connecting with high-quality markets across the Asia-Pacific region and Belt and Road countries.
